This piece features a pre-Prohibition whiskey called Virginia Club. It was produced by Ulman, Boykin & Co., a Baltimore-based company known for several whiskey brands before Prohibition. Their brand had minor name changes between 1884 and 1919. The use of the ampersand without “Ltd.” on this label narrows the date range to between 1889 and 1905. Leonard W. Drenkard, listed on the label, appears in the 1910 census as a liquor store operator.
