This piece was inspired by a bottle found by Tom Leveille of Virginia Bottles, a group dedicated to excavating historic treasures. Leveille found this bottle buried in Oregon Hill, Richmond. The names listed on the label, Samuel G. Atkins and Decatur O. Davis, were wholesale grocery and liquor dealers, with a warehouse on E Cary Street. The historic residence of D. O. Davis, situated on E Clay Street, is listed on the National Historic Register.
