This piece features a pre-Prohibition whiskey from Washington, D.C. Old Penn was sold by Colonial Wine Co., a liquor wholesaler located in Penn Quarter, possibly the whiskey’s namesake. Advertisements for Colonial Wine Co. appeared frequently in early 1900s editions of the Evening Star newspaper.
