This piece features a medicinal bottle of pine syrup. Dr. Wood’s Norway Pine Syrup was marketed as a remedy for colds and respiratory ailments. It was produced by Foster, Milburn & Co. in Buffalo, New York. Newspaper advertisements for this product can be found dating back to the late 1800s and early 1900s. One collector notes that the back of their bottle states each teaspoon contains 1/16th of chloroform.
