This piece was inspired by a pre-Prohibition whiskey from Washington, D.C. The Eldorado Wine Co., the listed seller on this label, was owned by Samuel D. Minster in the early 1900s. The portrait of Samuel, aquired through Ancestry.com, bears a striking resemblence to the man on the Little Minister label. It is presumed that Little Minister is a play on Samuel's last name, and perhaps a nickname he went by. There is an advertisement for The Eldorado Wine Co. in the souvenir program for Teddy Roosevelt's inauguration, naming Little Minister as one of their whiskies.
