I managed to locate the great-grandson of Gustavus Wallertstein, the liquor dealer mentioned on the Defender Whiskey label. He revealed that Wallerstein, originally from Richmond, spent the majority of his life in Washington, D.C., where he operated a business as a wholesale liquor dealer. The distiller for Defender Whiskey remains uncertain, as it was common for the distributor’s name to be custom printed on the label.
