This piece features a whiskey sold in Washington, D.C., in the late 1800s by Prussian immigrant H. A. Seligson. The address listed on the label corresponds with census records documenting Seligson in the liquor business at this location throughout the 1880s until his passing in 1891. Seligson later served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Union Army and was captured as a prisoner of war during the Battle of Harpers Ferry. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
